Dress For Success: The Two ReasonsWhy You Must

To dress for success is to brand yourself the way you want others to see you. Everyone tells you to dress up for the position you want not the position you have.

Most of the time, you see a person before you hear them. Consequently, the first time you see someone you automatically make a judgment whether to trust that person a bit or to raise your guard up. It is an automatic and spontaneous response. In this article, you will find out the two most important reasons to dress for success. You won’t want your doctor looking like a rock star neither would you want your make up artist looking like a nerdish-looking scientist. You see how you dress matters because you are giving people a peek into your brand.

Even though you are not to judge a book by its cover, when it comes to important issues such as your career or your profession, people have an impression immediately after they see you. They are making a judgment on you before you say a word hence the need to put your best foot forward starting from the way you look.

Mountains or Molehills?

You can turn molehills to mountains, or you can level it up. Every time you meet with a client, or you are in a business meeting with co-workers or upper management you are facing a mole-hill.

You face a molehill  of convincing your audience to listen to you. You want them to recognize you as the expert, and ultimately get rewarded for it. Immediately you make contact with your client you want them to see you as the potential solutions to their problem.

You don’t want to them increasingly on the alert about your competence even before uttering a word to them because you don’t look like the professional that you are. Guess what they see before you speak? The way you are dressed.

You will be building a mountain you will have to conquer instead of crushing the molehill if you fail to dress for success

The Two Most Important ReasonsTo Dress For Success

1.The most important reason to dress for success is you.

Nothing beats a confident professional. Dressing for success makes you feel good, and there is research to prove it! In August 2015 Social Psychological and Personality Science conducted a research. Its findings support the idea that dressing for success has many advantages, one of which is mediated by feeling powerful.

Are there days you felt ready to take on the world after taking a glimpse at yourself? You feel prepared and yes, Confident! That’s what happens when you dress for success you feel confident. There’s a pep to your step.

2. The second reason is the effect you have on your audience. You don’t need to be well dressed to be competent but other people will need to see that you are competent.

Remember, they see you before they hear you.

It’s important if you are meeting someone for the first time or if you meet with them every day, like at work that they get the right impression of you. Perception matters in life.

You only have one chance to create a first impression. However, every day, you have the opportunity to build a great impression at work for that day. This way, when people think about you, they remember the daily impressions you helped them to form.

Last Word!

You can’t put a diamond in a bag and expect people to recognize that it’s a diamond. However, put an ordinary stone in a jewelry box, and the ordinary stone will get a better handling than the diamond in the bag. Don’t allow your value to get ignored or overlooked because you refuse to dress for success. If you want to feel great about yourself and make other people believe you are the expert, then dress for success.

Start now by taking a look at your closet and put together great outfits. Think about accessories that will help you stand out as the professional. You can do this!
